What is computer engineering?

Computer engineering is a field that combines principles of electrical engineering and computer science to design, develop, and maintain computer systems and hardware. Computer engineers work on both the hardware (such as processors, circuit boards, and memory devices) and the software that runs on these systems. Their work enables the creation of everything from smartphones and laptops to complex embedded systems in cars and medical devices. Computer engineering can also involve research, innovation, and improving the efficiency and performance of computers and related technologies.

Job description

Here at Siemens, we take pride in enabling sustainable progress through technology. We do this through empowering customers by combining the real and digital worlds, thereby improving how we live, work, and move today and for the next generation! We know that the only way a business thrives is if our people are thriving. That's why we always put our people first. Our global, diverse team would be happy to support you and challenge you to grow in new ways. Who knows where our shared journey will take you?

Transform the everyday with us!

Siemens' Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products (SI EP) division bridges the physical and digital worlds for energy systems, buildings, and industries, while enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability to improve the ways people live and work. Our portfolio of power distribution and power management solutions enables customers to safely convert large blocks of electrical power into smaller, usable units, while providing tools to monitor, control, and optimize energy usage.

We are looking for rising engineering graduates to join the SI EP Engineering Leadership Development Program, a two-year journey featuring four six-month rotations across multiple Siemens SI EP sites and engineering functions. Rotation locations include Peachtree Corners, GA; Tucker, GA; Roebuck, SC; Hingham, MA; Bellefontaine, OH; Grand Prairie, TX; Broken Arrow, OK; Juarez, Mexico; Chihuahua, Mexico; and Monterrey, Mexico.

This program is engineered to accelerate your growth and lay the groundwork for an impactful engineering career at Siemens through hands-on experiences that build your technical expertise and industry knowledge, hone your leadership capabilities, cultivate your professional network across departments, offer mentorship and exposure to senior leaders, and help you define your career growth north star.

Upon successful completion of the program, you'll transition into a full-time role within SI EP, such as Research & Development Engineer, Project Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or Software/Hardware Engineer (just to name a few!)

You'll make an impact by:

  • Participating in four, six-month rotational assignments across key engineering functions such as design control, research and development, application engineering, manufacturing, software/hardware development, and project management
  • Developing and enhancing innovative products, technologies, and applications for low-voltage controls and power distribution systems
  • Contributing new ideas and tackling complex engineering challenges through creative problem-solving, discovering the most effective and efficient solutions
  • Collaborating across different teams and business areas, leveraging cross-functional perspectives and shared expertise to achieve project objectives and drive business results

You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, completed within one academic year of the program's start date
  • Available to start full-time employment in early January 2027 or early July 2027
  • Growth mindset, learning agility, and enthusiasm for developing new technical skills and interdisciplinary experiences in areas such as programming, design simulation, business development, strategic customer engagement, data analytics, and machine learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey strategic and technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences - from colleagues to customers
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and collaboration through experiences or activities that showcase initiative, responsibility, teamwork, and willingness to support peers
  • Experience with CAD and simulation tools, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo
  • Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving frameworks
  • Must be willing and able to relocate domestically and/or internationally for each rotation and travel as required by the program (relocation assistance is provided if relocating more than 50 miles from your permanent address)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electrical power distribution/power management technology or technology related to energy systems or the smart grid
  • Familiarity with FEA and CFD tools
  • Exposure to programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ and ability to perform basic data analysis
  • Familiarity with lean principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
