Job Description

RESPEC seeks a Structural EIT (Engineer in Training) to join our Anchorage, AK or Fairbanks, AK office. This is an onsite/office-based position based. 

The Structural Engineer in Training (EIT)’s primary role will include structural analysis and design for facilities supporting new construction and rehabilitations/renovations in collaboration with a team of local architects, civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers. Duties will include interpretation of building codes and standards, preparation of structural plans and details, and related construction observations for these structural projects. Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist engineers in calculations.
  • Support engineers in code review and research.
  • Creating and reviewing sketches of design intent.
  • Assist engineers in design and Construction Administration (CA)
  • Participate in meetings and work collaboratively in a variety of work groups.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in civil engineering with structural coursework emphasis from an accredited institution.  

  • Minimum 2 years of experience of structural engineering (preferred)

  • Engineer-in-Training, having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam 

  • Solid knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams  

  • Computer programming in Mathcad 

  • AutoCAD and Revit experience 

  • RISA, STAAD, SAP, Enercalc or similar Structural Analysis Software experience 

  • Experience with review of structural construction drawings 

  • Ability to read and interpret building codes, and regulations 

  • Experience with preparing plans, specifications, and design calculations 

  • Cold region/Alaska experience 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work in a team 

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; position requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travel.
