Job SummaryThis role offers academic, social, emotional, andphysical support to students enrolled at the DuBard School for LanguageDisorders. Serving as a classroom therapy assistant, the position involvesworking approximately 37-40 hours per week alongside a nationally certifiedspeech-language pathologist, who delivers direct intervention to children withsevere communication disorders and academic challenges.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the educational growth of students with significant communication disorders and academic challenges by working under the direction and guidance of the classroom speech-language pathologist
- Participate in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students and monitor their progress toward achieving IEP goals.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Work alongside classroom speech-language pathologists to maintain student records, monitor progress, collect data, and prepare instructional materials.
- Support students with social, emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsTwo years of college study (60semester hours) is required. A minimum of one year of experience working withchildren in an educational setting is required.

- Ability to utilize computer, computer software (word, excel, etc.), copy machine, fax machine.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, respect, and discretion when dealing with confidential matters and student files.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues, families, and university students.
- Ability to be compassionate and empathetic while working with a diverse population.
- Ability to be flexible in job assignments.
- Ability to learn the multisensory instructional method utilized in the program.
- Demonstrated skill with oral language and reading proficiency.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred QualificationsAssociate's degree from an accredited college or university or higher.
