Job description


To analyze, determine and complete Mechanical Services requirements pertaining to installation, operation, alteration, repairs, and maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems. Responsibilities include leading teams on regular routine maintenance, to complex problem solving, that require a variety of tasks in relation to the plumbing and HVAC field.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze, determines, and completes the mechanical services related task of installation, operation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of the HVAC systems, refrigeration, kitchen and plumbing systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot a variety of HVAC equipment using the proper operation and maintenance manuals and safety guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and current equipment conditions though our Facility Management System
  • Complete service orders initiated by Navy Federal Credit Union employees at all levels assigned by the Supervisor, Mechanical and notifies customer when completed
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and emergency procedures for all facilities personnel to follow and updated as required
  • Ensure Compliance of safety standards and protocols, including participation in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) which is mandatory
  • Mechanical Technicians collaborate closely with all members of the Mechanical Team and other departments to address equipment-related issues and improve reliability
  • Research documents, communicate and observes compliance with Navy Federal Credit Union local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines pertaining to mechanical and plumbing maintenance
  • Use multiple computer-based applications such as Excel, Word and building management systems
  • Inspect building systems and diagnose mechanical and plumbing systems for efficiency, malfunctions, or necessary repairs
  • Conduct job analysis to determine the scope of each project in terms of requirements versus resources and work closely with customers, contractors, and various levels of Navy Federal Credit Union
  • Make recommendations to the Mechanical Service Supervisor concerning safety issues, code compliance, and the assignment of apprentices on projects
  • May be designated as on call personnel to support after hours emergencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned or appropriate

Qualifications
  • Must possess valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Master, or Journeyman license, 7 years' experience or more, under a licensed Mechanical Contractor that demonstrates thorough knowledge, skill and successful performance of job functions in the mechanical field
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national mechanical and plumbing codes
  • Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials, and safety regulations associated with the technician's trade
  • Ability to work from ladders, platforms and hard to reach areas
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift, move and set up tools, equipment and furniture to be a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Ability to read and interpret work schedules and directions, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings and manufacturer manuals
  • Ability to lead teams in preventative maintenance efforts and emergency response
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives
  • Hold or the ability to obtain a 10 hour OSHA certification
  • Commit to continuing education requirements for geographic location associated with the HVAC and Plumbing field
  • Nate Certifications
  • Electrical Certification or equivalent experience
  • Kitchen Service experience
  • Working knowledge of CRAC units or other associated equipment that serves IDF and MDF rooms

Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive Commercial HVAC and chiller experience. Refrigerant license.
