What is a Computer Engineering Internship?

A Computer Engineering Internship is a temporary position designed for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the field of computer engineering. Interns typically work alongside experienced engineers on projects involving hardware, software, or systems integration. These internships provide practical exposure to real-world engineering challenges, enhance technical skills, and help interns build a professional network. They are often a stepping stone to full-time employment in the technology industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Computer Engineering Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer Engineering Intern, you need a solid understanding of computer hardware, software development, and programming languages like C/C++, Java, or Python, often supported by progress toward a relevant degree. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), debugging tools, and possibly coursework or certification in embedded systems or networking is beneficial. Strong problem-solving abilities, willingness to learn, and effective teamwork and communication skills help interns stand out. These skills enable you to contribute to technical projects, adapt quickly in a dynamic environment, and collaborate successfully with engineering teams.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a Computer Engineering Internship?

During a Computer Engineering Internship, you can expect to work on a variety of hands-on projects such as developing embedded systems, assisting with hardware testing, or writing and debugging code for software applications. Interns often collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and software developers, to contribute to real-world product development. These projects are designed to provide practical experience, enhance your technical skills, and help you understand the workflow within a professional engineering environment. You may also have opportunities to present your work and receive feedback from experienced mentors.

Location: Remote / Hybrid
Company: The AES Group

Duration:  Summer Internship: May to Sep

About the Opportunity

The AES Group has been selected to join the Anthropic Claude Partner Network, a highly selective group of partners working directly with Anthropic to implement advanced AI solutions for enterprise customers.

Through this partnership, we have access to specialized training, tools, and certifications that are not available publicly. We are opening a limited number of seats for highly motivated students who want to work at the intersection of AI, cloud, and real-world enterprise deployment.

This is a selective, training-first program designed for students who want to build real capability, not just add an internship line to their resume.

What Makes This Different

Most internships focus on small tasks or internal projects.
This program is built to prepare you for real-world AI implementation:

  • Direct alignment with Anthropic’s partner ecosystem
  • Exposure to real enterprise use cases
  • Mentorship from senior professionals with 25+ years of experience
  • Structured training tied to real deployment scenarios

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Anthropic partner training programs focused on AI and cloud implementation
  • Work alongside senior engineers to understand how AI solutions are designed and deployed
  • Support internal build efforts involving APIs, workflows, and cloud-based systems
  • Participate in problem solving discussions tied to real or near-real customer scenarios

Program Expectations

  • You will be given access to specialized training available only to Anthropic cloud partners
  • You are expected to complete the training and pass the associated certification exams
  • This program requires a high level of commitment, discipline, and self-direction
  • The goal is to prepare you to contribute to real AI and cloud implementation work

Compensation & Structure

  • This is an unpaid, training-focused internship program
  • All fees associated with Anthropic certification exams will be fully covered by The AES Group

What You’ll Gain

  • Access to Anthropic partner-only training and tools
  • Opportunity to earn Anthropic certification available only through this partner channel
  • Full coverage of certification exam fees by The AES Group
  • Hands-on exposure to enterprise AI implementation scenarios
  • Mentorship from experienced industry professionals
  • A highly differentiated experience for careers in AI, engineering, and consulting

Who Should Apply

  • Undergraduate students in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong interest in AI, cloud computing, and emerging technologies
  • Experience with programming, preferably Python
  • Demonstrated initiative through projects, coursework, or self-learning
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and learn quickly
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills

Selection Process

Due to limited seats, candidates will be selected based on:

  • Demonstrated interest in AI and cloud technologies
  • Technical foundation and learning ability
  • Motivation and commitment to complete the program
