Job description

Description:

Manufacturing Technician Lead is a hands-on leadership role position responsible for working closely with the manufacturing technicians and assemblers and providing day-to-day work direction. Position will oversee and perform a wide range of skilled repetitive assembly and cleaning operations to produce quality products in a timely manner; performs operations from work instructions, Engineering Drawings, and wire schematics. Utilizes the MRP/ERP system.

Requirements:
  • Provide day to day work direction and oversight to the manufacturing technicians and assemblers
  • Read and redline electrical schematics
  • Work with wiring and labeling
  • Understand the functionality of electrical components
  • Participate in first time production runs of new products
  • Experience of first article panel and enclosure wiring
  • Work from verbal instructions (e.g., is given a box of components/parts and is communicated to as to what to do; can create a sketch from this as well)
  • Create layout sketches/drawings of where to place components
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits using a multi-meter
  • Perform a wide range of skilled repetitive mechanical assembly operations in support of production projects
  • Assemble, modify, rework, and/or reassemble production components utilizing drawings, pick tickets, process documentation, and/or verbal instructions
  • Prepare and utilize basic hand tools including but not limited to power screwdriver, ruler, solder iron, heat gun, vise, solder gun, crimpers, wire strippers, torque wrenches and fabrication tools
  • Participate in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations
  • Address and resolve personnel issues in a timely and efficient manner, escalating as needed to direct manager and/or human resources for direction and resolution
  • Assess training needs of team and arrange for or provide appropriate instruction
  • Participate in continuous improvement and team building activities; maintains productive working relationships with all team members
  • Ensure team works in a safe manner and in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
  • Assist with creation of work instructions and bills of material as needed
  • Complete all required paperwork; prepares required reports and correspondence
  • Perform clean-up, organization, and tool inventory activities; 5S
  • Perform other duties within scope of position as needed or assigned
Requirements
  • 3+ years related experience, preferred
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to identify colors
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and wire schematics and do redlines
  • Familiarity with various mechanical and electrical measuring equipment
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions
  • Proficient in standard and metric systems
  • Good computer literacy, general knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
