Job description

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Roadway Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in our Birmingham or Huntsville office.
Responsibilities
  • Assists in the design of a variety of roadway project types including urban streets, rural highways, bridge replacements, sidewalks and trails, complex interchanges, roundabouts and intersection improvements
  • Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, and review agencies to help resolve a variety of complex problems
  • Assists in the analysis, preparation or modification of technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications and permits for projects
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Participates in project site visits with other project team members, as needed
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Able to learn Alabama Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures
  • Able to learn standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry

Education & Experience Qualifications:
Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program
  • Engineer Intern / Engineering in Training Certification, preferred
  • Experience utilizing Microstation/Openroads software, preferred
