Job description

Sumitomo (SHI) Cryogenics of America, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of innovative cryogenic and vacuum solutions to the medical, semiconductor, and research industries, is looking for an Engineering Intern to work out of our Allentown, PA headquarters. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience, learn from resident engineering experts and collaborate with teams focused on the latest cryogenic and vacuum technologies.

This is a full-time temporary position and is not eligible for benefits.

Over the course of internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the fascinating world of Cryogenics; learn first-hand how our products are designed and manufactured. Gain work experience within a manufacturing facility; network and learn how to collaborate within engineering and cross-functionally.
  • Engage and collaborate with our talented and experienced team on meaningful projects to understand processes, build relationships and gain work experience in a high energy, cross-functional team environment.
  • Learn about project planning, scheduling, budgeting & testing.
  • Receive mentoring support from working engineers who have “been there & done that.”
  • Present the accomplishments of your internship to Senior Management.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Full-Time graduate students currently attending an accredited college or university majoring in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong academic performance (preferred GPA of 3.0 or above)
  • Motivation to learn new skills, with passion for engineering and the drive to obtain results

Other Characteristics:

  • Able to work full-time (40 hours per week, M-F, 8am-5pm) & onsite for the duration of the internship.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Interest and ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to self-manage multiple projects, prioritize requests, and meet deadlines.
