Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview

Highly motivated, student professional focusing on assembly methods, molding, coating, and tooling within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will be responsible for problem-solving, continuous improvement, and driving tangible results. This role involves driving manufacturing excellence, process optimization, and ensuring a safe, efficient production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and support problem solving initiatives.
  • Contribute to improving efficiencies through waste identification and reduction.
  • Assist in maintaining all critical process documentation such as Job Instructions or Standard Operating Procedures, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, etc.
  • Participate in corrective actions for Customer complaints.
  • Assist in implementation of product changes onto the manufacturing floor.
  • Assist with VA/VE activity (Product and Process Savings).
  • Assist with samples/validation builds for product changes.
  • Assist in dimensional verification of components and finished product.
  • Assist in administering appropriate corrective actions to improve ergonomics on the production floor.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Basic analytical skills

Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
  • Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to problem solve systematically, such as working through potential failure causes to come to a root cause.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office and manufacturing environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
