This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Rock Island, Illinois to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. Over 10-12 weeks, you will support real project work tied to building-system design and coordination.

In this role, you will help the team work within project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional disciplines, document design decisions, and support project progress from design through periodic job site observations. You will contribute to projects tied to healthcare and MEP work while gaining exposure to industrial support systems, facility upgrades, and infrastructure-driven work.

What You'll Do

Assist with engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings
Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards
Assist with working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment
Assist with client relations, project design notebook maintenance, and documentation for permanent record files
Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly while monitoring project design progress
Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement

What You'll Bring

Required Education
Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

Experience Required Skills/Abilities
Strong interest in design consulting
Previous exposure to CAD and/or Building Information Model software
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

State of Illinois Pay Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
