Under the guidance of a Principal Scientist, the Pre-Clinical Services Intern will be responsible for assisting the Bioassay Development team at Cytiva Nanomedicine in Vancouver with a variety of potency assays.

What you'll do

  • Refer to available literature to prepare study plans and participate in experimental design, problem-solving and technical discussions.
  • Use routine bioassay techniques to characterize nanoparticle formulations and assess their potency.
  • Design and perform experiments to analyze the in vitro potency of drug formulations using standard techniques detailed below.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports and technical presentations.
  • Assist with daily tasks in the lab such as maintenance, buffer preparation, ordering, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Who you are

  • A third- or fourth-year post secondary student in Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemical and Biological Engineering, or relevant disciplines with hands-on experience in the laboratory is preferred
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as Western blots, ELISA, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, etc., is an asset
  • Must be resourceful, flexible, detail-oriented, organized and with excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to work both as a team and independently with minimum supervision.
  • An interest in drug delivery and genetic medicines
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • General knowledge of bioassay techniques
  • Hands on experience with maintaining cell cultures and standard tissue culture techniques
  • Experience with nanoparticle chemistry and fundamentals

The annual salary range OR the hourly range for this role is 45,000-55,000 CAD/year. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
