Interns often work under the supervision of experienced engineers and may contribute to projects involving programming, circuit design, troubleshooting, or system optimization. Their responsibilities can include writing code, assembling hardware components, performing experiments, and documenting results. This role is designed to give students hands-on experience and help them apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering problems.

Job description

Software Engineering Intern

Software Engineering Intern โ€” Lytehaus Group

Location: New York City (remote-friendly; WeWork office access available)
Type: Internship, paid โ€” full-time or part-time considered
Start: Immediate / flexible

About Lytehaus

Lytehaus Group is a live interactive entertainment and data company. Our first product, We provide a live dating show broadcast on TikTok where the audience decides what happens in real time. Behind the entertainment is the real asset: a growing engine of causally-labeled behavioral data. We're a seed-stage team launching in NYC in Q4 2026, with London to follow. You'd be one of the first engineers in the building.

What you'll work on

  • Live broadcast tooling: overlays, vote tallies, real-time audience interaction systems
  • Web and internal tools: landing pages, applicant/participant flows, production dashboards
  • Data pipeline work: capturing, structuring, and labeling behavioral signals from live episodes
  • Rapid prototyping โ€” we ship weekly, sometimes daily, around live show schedules

What we're looking for

  • Currently studying (or recently finished) CS, engineering, or equivalent self-taught ability โ€” we care about what you can build, not the credential
  • Comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one of React, Node, or Python
  • Bonus: experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, streaming), TikTok/social APIs, OBS or broadcast tooling, or basic ML/data work
  • Bias to shipping. You'd rather put something scrappy live tonight than something perfect next month
  • Interest in live entertainment, social platforms, or consumer AI is a big plus

What you get

  • Direct exposure to the founders โ€” you'll work with the COO and CEO, not through layers
  • Real ownership: your code goes live in front of a real audience, fast
  • Ground-floor view of a venture-backed consumer startup mid-launch and mid-raise
  • Flexible working: remote, or desk space at a NYC WeWork
  • Potential path to a full-time role as we scale post-launch

To apply

Send a short note, your GitHub/portfolio (or anything you've built), and your availability to ------------. No cover letter needed โ€” show us something you made.
