Intern -Transportation Engineering Public Works 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, may vary

Ever wonder how roads go from blueprint to blacktop? Curious how traffic patterns are designed or how projects stay on schedule? Ready to get out of the classroom and into the field? Check out this Internship!

What You'll Do This internship puts you alongside Transportation Engineering professionals supporting real construction and capital improvement projects across Fort Wayne. You'll gain hands-on exposure to inspection, documentation, and field operations-seeing firsthand how infrastructure projects are built, monitored, and completed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with field inspections and basic testing to help ensure projects meet plans and safety standards
  • Document project progress through photos, reports, and field notes
  • Support pavement data tracking and updates in the Pavement Management System
  • Attend project and pre-construction meetings to observe planning and coordination
  • Assist engineering and survey staff with measurements, quantities, and data collection

What You Bring | Education & Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or a related field
  • Strong interest in transportation, infrastructure, or public works
