Job Description:

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Level 2 CAD Engineer to support DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center located in Suffolk, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and optimizing the physical infrastructure, equipment layouts, and components that power our joint training environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering and infrastructure teams to ensure all designs meet rigorous technical specifications and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Modeling: Develop high-quality 2D technical drawings and complex 3D models using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) to support data center layouts and infrastructure components.

Assembly & Integration: Create detailed spatial and component assemblies to illustrate how various structural, mechanical, and hardware elements fit together within the data center environment.

Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including precise dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications required for fabrication and deployment.

Simulation & Analysis: Utilize Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools (e.g., Ansys) to simulate, analyze, and validate designs for structural stress, thermal performance, and overall manufacturability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with systems engineers, project managers, and facility teams to ensure all designs align with DevSecOps pipeline requirements and broader mission objectives.

Design Optimization: Continuous refinement of designs to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality, minimizing the reliance on costly physical prototyping.

Qualifications & Requirements
Security Clearance
Must possess and maintain an active Secret security clearance.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or specialized focus in MCAD/ECAD software) AND/OR a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in CAD engineering.

Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Proficiency: Mastery of major CAD platforms (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or CATIA) and familiarity with CAE simulation tools for stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics analysis.

Engineering Fundamentals: Deep understanding of core engineering principles, material properties, and manufacturing/fabrication processes.

Standards & Compliance: Strong working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO, ASME).

Analytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a strong ability to visualize complex spatial arrangements and data center configurations.

Communication: Excellent collaborative and communication skills to effectively bridge the gap between abstract design and physical implementation.
