Job description

PROLIM (www.prolim.com) is currently seeking CAD Designer for one of our top client in Newport News, VA

This position requires U.S. citizenship due to client restrictions.

Job Description

We are hiring multiple CAD Designers/Engineers across Levels I–IV to support Virginia Class model file conversions and design initiatives. Candidates will convert 3D models into the Siemens NX application, including setting up construction views.

This role involves designing components or portions of systems, modifying existing designs, and supporting manufacturing operations. Candidates will work across multiple disciplines (structural, electrical, piping, mechanical, ventilation, and sheet metal) and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and planning teams.

Responsibilities also include preparing layouts and sketches, performing basic calculations, and ensuring designs meet manufacturing requirements, material availability, and contractual specifications.

Basic Qualifications (Level Dependent)

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 0–6 years of relevant experience (level will be determined based on experience)
  • Equivalent combinations of education, apprenticeship, or military training accepted

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAS in Drafting & Design or Engineering Technology
  • Experience with Siemens NX, Inventor, or similar CAD tools
  • Experience creating manufacturing or installation drawings
  • Trade or hands-on experience with 3D work instructions (structural, electrical, piping, mechanical, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
