Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Survey CAD Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate survey drawings and maps using design and documentation software. This role requires a strong understanding of surveying principles, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with our engineering and surveying teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed survey drawings, maps, and plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other CAD software.
• Interpret and analyze field survey data to produce accurate and precise drawings, including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, various types of Plats (Subdivision, Easements, Dedication, etc.), construction layout plans, and construction staking diagrams and calculations.
• Assist in the preparation of topographic, boundary, and construction survey plans.
• Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of survey data.
• Review and verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
• Maintain and update survey records, drawings, and files in an organized manner.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist in developing and maintaining CAD standards and procedures.
• Provide support for field survey crews as needed, including data collection and processing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any CAD-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, surveying, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in survey drafting and CAD.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software (Civil 3D experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret survey notes, maps, and construction plans.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Familiarity with GPS, total station, and other surveying instruments is a plus.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
• Adherence to Illinois Department of Labor regulations and federal employment laws, including non-discrimination policies.
