Specific Responsibilities:

This is a Distributed Computer Systems Specialist position within the Information Technology program located at 800 Clematis Street. This position is responsible for Desktop Computers, planning, enhancing and maintaining FDOH - Palm Beach's system network for use by end-users including but not limited to hardware, software and communication components of the system. Prepare recommendations for procedural and policies within the work group. Work is performed under the supervision of the Computer & Info Systems Manager I-SES. This position requires independent judgment, initiative, applying general knowledge of business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions.

This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures. Confidential sets for this position: Computer Data (IT). This position has the responsibility to view confidential information. This position is designated as Information Custodian. This position has Microsoft Outlook Web Access.

Provide customer support service by receiving, logging and tracking all IT Service Desk calls in the Help Desk database. Produce Help Desk tickets and forward to the IT support technician "Team Leader". Maintain Active Directory, creating Groups, Distribution Listings, E-mail and Encryption Certifications according to established FDOH policies.  Adding and deleting accounts and folders in accordance with established FDOH Policy.  Responsible for updating Automated Call Distribution System messages in the case of outages or closings.

Use system resources, support tools and procedure manuals to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve end-Users' problems at Tier I level within a Distributed Computer Systems environment.  Maintain and update IT document in the share point library for Service Desk and technician issues.  Ensure tickets are created for all incoming phone calls and follow up with users to ensure the problem was resolved on tier I level.

Responsible for training new IT staff on the help desk and active directory, user accounts and permissions and Automated Call Distribution System.  Develops training programs for principals and users of microcomputers and multi-function office systems.  Coordinates the preparation of written materials on new methods in order to thoroughly utilize the facilities of multifunction automated office systems. Provide primary support for Cell Phones including but not limited to, research available upgrades to phones. Work with purchasing to acquire phones. Follow the documented deployment of phones. Eliminate potential information breach by effectively cleansing and dispose of returned phones. Make adjustments to Cell phone billing and tracking system.

Research and reviews office automation and training technical developments in hardware and software equipment to provide supervisory personnel with up-to-date information in this field. Sending "All users" management approved e-mails.  Responsible for the Service Desk phone system, assuring phones are manned.  Notify Telecom of Automated Call Distribution system phone issues.

Responsible for answering call messages in the case of outages or closings.  Backup to conduct bi-weekly Computer Orientation Classes. Serves as the Backup to the Help Desk Distributed Computer System Analyst or Specialist.

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to monitor and resolve problems with distributed computer systems components. 
  • Ability to identify and define user task needs. Ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
