We provide a solution that combines advanced software, radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, a dedicated customer-support team, and a secure database to track and trace cannabis from growth, harvest, and processing to testing, transport, and sale.   

GENERAL OVERVIEW 

We are seeking a motivated Backend .NET Engineer to support the development and maintenance of scalable backend systems that power our enterprise applications. This role focuses on server-side development using modern .NET technologies while collaborating with experienced engineers to build secure, high-performance services and APIs. 

The ideal candidate is eager to grow their technical skills, contribute to backend development efforts, and learn best practices in software engineering within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Embodies Metrc’s Core Values 
  • Assist in developing backend services using .NET Framework / .NET 10 and C#. 
  • Assist in implementing AI harnessing frameworks to improve output.? 
  • Support the development and maintenance of RESTful APIs used by web and mobile applications. 
  • Assist with design and implement backend architecture using .NET Framework / .NET 8 and C# aided by AI to achieve faster and more accurate outcomes. 
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to build scalable and secure backend systems. 
  • Work with front-end engineers to integrate user-facing elements with backend services. 
  • Contribute to database development and maintenance using SQL Server or PostgreSQL. 
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards. 
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve development practices. 
  • Assist in troubleshooting application issues and supporting production systems. 
  • Contribute to automated testing and follow Test Driven Development (TDD) practices. 
  • Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. 
  • Continue developing technical skills and stay informed on evolving .NET technologies. 
  • May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 
Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 
  • 0–2 years of experience in software development (internships or academic projects considered). 
  • Basic proficiency in C# and .NET Core / .NET technologies. 
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and backend development concepts. 
  • Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL. 
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles. 
  • Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git). 
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative engineering environment. 
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Experience with ASP.NET Web API or similar frameworks. 
  • Exposure to ORMs such as Dapper or Entity Framework. 
  • Familiarity with Agile development environments. 
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices. 
  • Internship or project experience developing backend applications.

Minimal travel expected. Occasional travel for leadership meetings or cross-functional collaboration.
