$28.00 hourly โ€“ Monday through Friday โ€“ 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

DMG MORIโ€™s National Engineering Internship provides unique experience for those passionate about engineering and manufacturing. Working directly with our National Engineering group, the focus will be on CNC machine learning, process planning, programming, and layout of solutions for challenges seen in the advanced manufacturing space. You can expect to be working with state-of-the-art equipment and mentorship with experienced engineers. You will work on all aspects of applying the next generation of advanced manufacturing equipment for today and tomorrowโ€™s challenges.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Inspection of finished parts for quality and accuracy.
  • Generate engineering reports and technical documentation.
  • Frequent communication with internal technical staff.
  • Part layout, tool selection, and machining process development.
  • Commissioning & decommissioning of CNC equipment and peripheral devices.
  • Set up and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Basic machine, peripheral device, and machining process trouble shooting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Basic hand tool skills.
  • Minimum 1.5 yearsโ€™ experience in organized educational program focused on manufacturing.
  • Ability to reliably commute to Hoffman Estates Office.
  • Experience with G code programming.
  • Computer operation skills including Office, CAD, and CAM.
  • Knowledge in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, reading drawings, and machine setup.
  • Proven experience to communicate professionally.
  • Proven flexibility with shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving abilities.

Work Environment:

Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. General office environment experienced at DMG MORI office.

Physical Demands:

Frequent: operating a vehicle, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects. Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements.

Periodic: sitting at desk and utilizing computers and phones.

Occasional: Lifting or moving up to 50lbs.
