Job description

M-D is seeking a motivated Industrial/Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing team for the summer of 2025. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment under the guidance of our Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will support engineering and production initiatives, contributing to process improvements, data analysis, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with process improvement projects to optimize manufacturing workflows.
  • Perform time studies, collect data, and analyze results to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create and update process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and ensure quality standards.
  • Utilize CAD software to create or modify mechanical drawings and layouts as directed.
  • Conduct basic data entry and reporting related to production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working in the manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is preferred.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and machinery.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with tools or equipment is a plus.
