Job description

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

This position supports the EH&S area in the implementation, execution, and follow-up of the 2026 EH&S Annual HIRA Program. The intern will coordinate risk assessment sessions, track program progress, verify the quality and accuracy of HIRA analyses, and manage action plans in Gensuite. The role also includes analyzing risk information, supporting reporting activities, and helping ensure the timely closure of corrective and preventive actions. This internship provides hands-on experience in hazard identification, risk evaluation, action plan management, and EH&S program execution within an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and ensure participation of employees and area leaders in risk analysis sessions (HIRA).
  • Follow up on the 2026 EH&S Annual HIRA Plan, ensuring compliance with the defined scope and committed timelines.
  • Review and verify the proper completion and technical quality of HIRA assessments according to EH&S methodology and corporate guidelines.
  • Capture and manage action plans resulting from HIRA assessments in the Gensuite system.
  • Follow up with action owners to ensure timely closure of action plans.
  • Analyze risk information and propose innovative and preventive solutions for risk mitigation.
  • Support the preparation of progress and status reports for management follow-up.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective coordination of HIRA activities.
  • Maintain organized documentation and records related to risk analysis and corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational risk control and incident prevention processes.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Currently studying Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Basic knowledge of risk analysis and industrial safety.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in computer tools such as Excel and management systems.
  • Knowledge of EH&S management platforms such as Gensuite or similar is preferred.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks and propose preventive solutions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with different levels of the organization.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn EH&S processes and corporate standards.
