Job description

DESCRIPTION *** Currently hiring for weekday/weekend early morning shifts beginning at 4:45 am. Additional weekend shifts are available, as well. *** Service Desk employees enjoy a fast-paced environment with over 500,000 visitors to our Community Center each year.

Shoreview employs 10-18 people to work at the desk serving residents, members and guests. The Community Center has a fitness center, a full-size gym, aerobics studios, a running/walking track, indoor swimming pool/Tropics Water Park, child care center, locker rooms, two banquet rooms, meeting rooms, and much more. Our Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of classes throughout the facility as well.

A training and orientation is provided to new employees. Shirts are provided to employees. DUTIES INCLUDE Greet and assist visitors to the Community Center Provide a wide variety of information to guests on the phone and in-person Collect fees, operate a cash register, and reconcile cash through cash procedures Provide backup support to the Wave Cafe when needed Arrive on time for shift Maintain timesheet with accurate number of hours worked Find substitute to work shift if a planned absence is necessary Other duties as assigned by the Community Center management team QUALIFICATIONS Ability to successfully work with a variety of people to answer questions & resolve problems Ability operate a computer, including adequate typing skills (35-45 wpm) Ability to operate a cash register, make correct change, and reconcile cash Ability to multi-task and track a large quantity of information from multiple sources Must be at least 16 years old.

OTHER Hours: You must be available weekdays and weekend hours. The Community Center is open: Monday-Friday: 5 am - 9 pm Saturday & Sunday: 6 am - 8 pm In addition, we are open 364 days a year with limited hours on holidays including Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. We are closed on Christmas Day.

*** FREE Community Center Membership. *** PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors at the Community Center service desk. Employees frequently sit or stand for extended periods while assisting visitors, answering phones, and processing transactions.

The position requires frequent computer and cash register use, effective verbal communication, and the ability to read computer screens and printed materials. Occasional walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Employees must be able to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced, customer service environment.
