POSITION SUMMARY

This role is responsible for database administration, analysis, maintenance, and database management activities or database architecture / design engineering.

DESCRIPTION

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support of database environments/applications, including software installation, database creation, upgrades, patches, problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, database maintenance, process automation, evaluation, and tuning recommendations; develop, implement and support backup/restore, disaster recovery and data replication procedures and exercises
  • Participate in all aspects of the lifecycle for database environments and in the implementation of application requested database code and configuration changes in supported database environments
  • Participate in the creation of new policies, procedures, projects and processes
  • Evaluate, document, and recommend database-related software products within technical architecture framework
  • Interact with various technology teams regarding work requests submitted, participate in the creation of new policies, procedures, projects, processes and participate in all aspects of the lifecycle for database environments
  • Provide technical guidance for junior members of the team and create periodic status reports for management
  • Assist less experienced colleagues by providing technical direction or instruction.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in administering and managing large databases in complex enterprise environments.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification and an Authority in SQL Server 2012 and SQL 2008 R2 with three years SQL Server Integration Services.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Competent with tool use to manage the following functions: code management, project management, testing / quality assurance, version control, system development lifecycle control, and prototyping.
  • Knowledge of information systems terminology, concepts / practices; networking, distributed computing environment, and trouble-shooting strategies and concepts.
  • Understand a broad range of technologies and able to think in terms "enterprise wide" solutions.
  • Software development lifecycle using structured processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent in at least one of the following technologies: MS Analysis Service, MS Reporting Services, and data warehouse / data mart is preferred.
  • Vendor certification in any of the application and/or technologies listed above is desired.
  • Mortgage industry systems is beneficial.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Working on-site at assigned office location.
  • Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
  • Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand.
  • Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations.
  • Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
  • Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls.
  • Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
