Job description

Manager, Software Quality Control
Position Overview:
This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer. The Software Quality Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the Software Quality Control team to include training and testing of our software and web based applications. Motivating and maintaining team members is a key responsibility.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible and accountable for the overall performance of the quality control team.
  • Provide leadership and support to the team including the establishment and measurement of individual objectives, coaching, annual performance reviews, regular feedback sessions and career path development.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, building a positive team environment, project planning, resource allocation and interpersonal management for the Application Development department.
  • Enforce policies and procedures for the department and production systems.
  • Develop, implement and maintain testing schedules.
  • Review test cases for accuracy to ensure company standards are met.
  • Work with the Software Development and DBA teams to provide software testing & analysis.
  • Ensure that the software produced meets the functional and design specifications as set forth by our customer base.
  • Ensure web based programs meet the functional and design specifications and ensure the data is accurate.
  • Log and track testing errors in defect tracking database.
  • Other responsibilities may include helpdesk support of existing applications.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in MIS, Computer Science or Computer Engineering strongly desired. Proven industry experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience with proven track record of leading successful quality control teams strongly preferred or at manager's discretion.
  • Established record of leading and mentoring people as well as leading projects and/or project teams.
  • Seven to ten years of overall IT experience strongly desired.
  • Seven plus years of development experience strongly desired.
  • Basic background in SQL, database knowledge and back-end testing, and Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience in executing regression testing.
  • Experience in writing/executing test plans.
  • Experience in troubleshooting application and program errors.
  • Working knowledge with standard Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Windows.
  • Testing experience in Java Script, VB, ASP, Crystal reports.
  • Excellent people skills when interacting with developers/users.
  • Excellent leadership, project management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to coach, guide and develop team members.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Customer-focused, positive and professional attitude.
  • Results oriented with emphasis on continually improving productivity and quality.
