Job description

TITLE: BI Architect III (Multiple Openings)
LOCATION: Maryland Heights, MO

 
JOB SUMMARY: Create solution blueprints, high-level design and implementation strategies, logical and physical data models for end-to-end business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing solutions. Set architecture direction for BI development verticals. Research data warehousing and BI technologies. Integrate BI architecture with Enterprise architecture and other enterprise level disciplines including security and engineering. Work in collaboration with BI delivery team leaders, business analysts and business leaders to understand business requirements and end user’s needs. Translate business requirements and end user’s needs into architecture blueprints that deliver cost effective and high performing, high quality BI solutions. Design, develop, manage, and update logical and physical data models for the BI data marts. Work with IT partners to review upstream data warehouse data models and assess/mitigate impact. Communicate database designs to business and technical audiences, including business users, program sponsors, database administrators, ETL developers, and BI developers. Migrate schema changes between development, QA, and production environments. Provide architectural expertise, thought leadership, direction, and assistance across entire BI organization. Present proposed solution blueprints to the Architecture Review Board. Communicate solution blueprints to project team members, business users, and program sponsors. Participate in Architecture Review Board meetings. Review solutions presented by other BI architects and provide constructive feedback. Engage with IT teams including Data Management, DBAs, Security, Storage, and Networking for project needs. Participate in capacity planning for all layers in the BI technology stack and solve complex production issues spanning multiple tiers in the BI/DW technology stack. Research and evaluate new BI /DW technologies and make adoption recommendations. Develop and document technical standards and best practices for the BI organization; develop and execute to BI Architecture roadmaps; develop training plans; and develop and refine BI Architecture roles and responsibilities. Work in a data warehousing environment and databases including AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Teradata, Netezza, DB2, or SQL Server. Support data warehouse architecture including data sourcing/acquisition, integration, transformation, and presentation using technologies including SQL Stored Procedures, Shell Scripts, and Python. Support logical and physical database design for data warehouses including Erwin, Visio, or similar leading data modeling tools. Develop and implement complex SQL on MPP platforms including AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or Teradata Vantage. Perform ETL job development for data warehousing in any data warehouse databases.

 
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 8 years of experience in: data warehousing environment and databases including experience in at least one of the following: AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Teradata, Netezza, DB2, or SQL Server; and data warehouse architecture including data sourcing/acquisition, integration, transformation, and presentation using technologies including SQL Stored Procedures, Shell Scripts, and Python. 5 years of experience in: logical and physical database design for data warehouses including Erwin or Visio; developing and implementing complex SQL on MPP platforms including at least one of the following: AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or Teradata Vantage; and performing ETL job development for data warehousing in any data warehouse databases.

Hybrid arrangement is available.

Requires 10% domestic travel.
