DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform a variety of clerical activities including typing, filing, and record keeping at various levels of complexity in support of assigned school or District program/office operations. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures. This job class performs a variety of responsible clerical support duties and requires knowledge of standard office methods, procedures, and practices. This job class must be able to choose among a limited number of alternatives in solving the standard range of problems. This job class functions at a journey level of job classification.
SUPERVISOR: Administrator or desginee
TYPICAL DUTIES
• Performs a variety of clerical activities related to the function(s) of assigned office/program
• Types correspondence, student records, CUM folders, newsletters, labels, forms, and reports from clearly defined sources
• Answers telephone, takes messages, and/or refers callers to appropriate sources
• Receives, screens, and waits on students, faculty, parents, and the public providing requested information and assistance or referring to appropriate person
• Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail
• Distributes office forms and notices to students, staff, and others; issues tardy slips
• Receives information, maintains records, and prepares routine reports related to office/program activities and operations such as employee absences, student attendance, free/reduced lunch program, and maintenance work orders
• Collects, verifies, sorts, tabulates, compiles, and files a variety of data and information according to predetermined classifications; maintaining alphabetical, numerical, index, and cross-reference files as required
• Enters and updates routine data related to assigned office/program operations into a computer terminal such as class lists, and enrollment information
• Assists in registering new students; assists parents with completion of appropriate forms, checks forms for accuracy and completeness, requests records, and assembles registration packets
• Maintains accurate records related to lunch charges and money collected; sells lunch tickets, prepares bank deposits, and sends notices for lunch money due
• Duplicates, collates, and folds letters, forms, notices, and other materials associated with assigned office operations and activities
• Administers minor first aid following established District guidelines, policies, and procedures as assigned
• Performs other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required
