Job description

Wanco Inc. is an industrial manufacturer seeking an experienced Assembly Lead to oversee and direct a team of assemblers in one or more assembly cells to meet production, safety, quality, 5S and compliance requirements.

What you need to have: 

·         Technical skills: Strong understanding of assembly processes, familiarity with hand and power tools, and knowledge of relevant safety, quality, lean manufacturing, and ISO 9001 standards.

·         Education and experience: Highschool degree and two or more years’ experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

·         Leadership: Experience in leading, motivating, and guiding a team, fostering a positive work environment and driving performance.

·         Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for clear instruction delivery, effective feedback, and collaboration with team members, supervisors, and other departments.

·         Industrial manufacturing: Experience with fabrication, electrical and mechanical assembly, including ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.

·         Inventory management: Experience with bills of material and inventory location management.

·         Teamwork: Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

·         Experience and understanding of lean techniques such as 5S compliance, flow and pull concepts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This includes but is not limited to:

·         Team Leadership: Guide, train, and assign work to assembly team members, providing training and support, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, 5S, and compliance standards.

·         Production Monitoring: Ensure the operational flow of the assembly cell(s), and drive the pace of production to meet goals.

·         Quality and Safety: Ensure all production activities adhere to established safety and quality standards, and that team members follow proper procedures and guidelines.

·         Problem Solving: Act as a point person for technical challenges, help resolve production schedule conflicts, and support supervisors.

·         Communication: Serve as a liaison between the assembly team and management or other stakeholders.

·         Computer transactions: Perform applicable ERP transactions to ensure inventory and production data integrity.

Physical Requirements:

Mobility to work in office and factory setting including use of standard office equipment, including a computer.

Comfortable working directly in a manufacturing facility and adhering to PPE requirements.

Some travel may be required.

Salary Range: $22.00/hr to $26.00/hr depending on experience

Reporting: This position has direct reports and reports to department supervisor or manager.
