POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lighter is responsible for translating lighting needs and concepts into their shotwork, as directed by the client and internal CG team. They will work closely with project Supervisors and Production team to carry out lighting and lookdev tasks throughout the project schedule.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Lighter work closely with VFX, CG and Lighting supervisors to develop realistic lighting solutions. They will translate 2D concepts and use a wide variety of lighting techniques to capture the vision laid out by Creative Director and VFX sups, communicate and collaborate clearly and effectively with 2D, CG and production teams, and work within the show structure and production deadlines to complete all lighting & rendering tasks. They will also be responsible for the following:
  • Responsible for pre-comps, quality checking for any issues on render passes, and setting up render settings
  • Debug any issues when building out scenes and making sure renders are efficient
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with compositors and provide any elements needed

WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate must have prior working experience with Houdini lighting, as well as prior working experience in Lighting and Rendering for VFX. They must be able to take directions and adjust the course of action as needed, and they must be able to contribute and communicate creative and technical ideas and solutions. Additional desired skills include:
  • Experience at improvising and problem-solving.
  • Comfortability delivering on an expedited schedule.
  • Experience comping elements of your work (pre-comps)
  • Understanding of a VFX production pipeline
  • Independent problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Maya and V-Ray
  • Experience with Nuke software/ability to pre-comp is a plus
