Job description

Organization Background

Founded in 1997, JASTECH Development Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to a sustainable and equitable Philadelphia. Its flagship project, the Overbrook Environmental Education Center (OEEC) established in 2002, serves as a West Philadelphia hub for environmental and climate resilience, public health, and community enrichment through literacy and art.


Position Summary:

The Communications Social Media & Outreach Coordinator (SMC) is a part-time position who will create and maintain a strong virtual presence for the OEEC and implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts. The SMC develops original content and suggests creative ways to attract more volunteers and donors and promote the OEEC brand. The SMC increases web traffic and customer engagement metrics aligned with broader marketing strategies -this includes website maintenance and upkeep. The ideal SMC have knowledge of and passion for the OEEC’s mission, vision, and core values.


This is a part-time hybrid position that may include some evening and weekend hours. The Communications Social Media & Outreach Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and/or his designee.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate, create, and monitor content, including graphic design, on the OEEC’s newsletter, social media channels and website to share the OEEC’s story, mission, vision, and values.

 

Manage OEEC’s digital media needs:

·        Oversee and implement OEEC’s social media strategy

·        Manage OEEC’s social media accounts across all platforms to grow the OEEC presence

·     Monitor social media accounts, respond to inquiries, and use analytics to report on social media

campaigns

·        Coordinate, upload, and monitor OEEC’s website content

·        Monitor industry social media trends to determine how to maximize them for OEEC

·        Support OEEC communications and external education strategies

·        Coordinate all internal communications - departments and internal constituents

·        Collaborate with OEEC staff and volunteers to develop, create, and edit materials

·        Coordinate the external communication of OEEC’s programs and activities


Graphic Design:

·        Manage design and brand guidelines

·        Design and implement creative graphics and content for both print and digital needs

·        Edit in-house videos as needed

·        Create graphics for website, social media, and email marketing


Other Tasks:

·        Assist with copyediting and proofreading

·        Photography and Videography as requested

·        Newsletter and Flyer development

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

·        5 years of combination of education and experience in marketing communications

·        3+ years of working experience in social media and/or community engagement role.

· Experience with all major social media platforms, in addition to analytics and scheduling tools,

Google Analytics, etc.

·        Proficient in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Animation is a plus!

·        Strong writing and copy-editing skills, with a track record of writing engaging content

·        Competent photography skills; video production and editing experience a plus

·        Experience with Word Press or similar web platforms

·        Experience working in graphic design


Skills

·  Demonstrated computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using website

management software

·        Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Constant Contact a plus

·        Basic audiovisual knowledge and experience

·        Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills

·        Detail oriented and organized with the ability to adapt rapidly to evolving priorities and deadlines

·        Ability to take initiative as well as work as part of a team and organize own activity


Background Clearances:  Employees are responsible for providing a valid Pennsylvania child abuse clearance, state criminal background check, FBI criminal background check, Mandated Reporter training, and other background checks. First Aid/CPR training will be provided to applicants who don’t currently have it.


Salary Range: $30 – $35/hr
