Job description

Responsible for the evaluation of operational performance of proposed systems designs through analysis of our customer’s operations requirements and the proposed solution characteristics. In addition, develop internal tools to support the efficiency and accuracy of solution development activities.

Reports to: Manager of Solutions Development

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Data Science Engineering or experience in a related field required. Other educational disciplines will be considered based on relevant work experience.
  • Relevant work experience in a similar capacity.
  • Proficient in understanding and creating operational and material flow requirements.
  • Basic understanding of typical automated material handling system operations.
  • Proficient in data analysis leveraging spreadsheets (MS Excel) – including data analysis using pivot tables, and customization with macros.
  • Ability to identify the required data to perform the necessary analysis to meet system performance objectives.
  • Basic understanding of financial justifications; ability to understand, analyze and create ROI analyses with oversight.
  • Able to cleanse and map customer data to standard templates leveraging database queries.
  • Able to conduct data analysis leveraging database queries.
  • Able to facilitate a simulation analysis. Develop scope of work and present clear conclusions from results.
  • Able to translate analysis activities into system design recommendations.
  • Ability to create new tools to quantify operational requirements and equipment capability leveraging modern approaches.
  • Able to apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine system requirements.
  • Ability to write a high-level functional design description considering all aspects of the solution including operations, software and equipment.
  • Basic familiarity with material handling system design, and cost estimating.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to express complex concepts in plain language to reach broader audiences.
  • Familiarity of Emulation/Simulation practices is a plus.
  • Familiarity of AutoCAD, Demo3D and 3D design is a plus.
  • MOST Modelling experience is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite.

Responsibilities
  • Develops new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.
  • Develops software that simulates behavior of users and systems.
  • Develops, integrates and uses graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
  • Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and provides decision support for alternative architectures.
  • Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis. May build and design training models.
  • Independently, perform Excel based data analysis to determine system requirements for automated material handling solutions to support Customers operations.
  • With support, perform data analysis on large data sets leveraging database data analysis to determine system requirements to support Customers operations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for data analysis and simulation activities for Customers, Suppliers and Internal Resources.
  • Translate manual DC operations KPIs into system requirements.
  • Identify activity rates for operational activities.
  • With oversight, create ROI calculations to identify system justifications and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Create animations in Demo3d to provide visualizations of system operation.
  • Create simulation model assumptions and operation specifications documents to support model development.
  • Make simulation model parameter and layout modifications to Simulate3d models and run system experiments.
  • With support, conduct analysis to identify value engineering opportunities and comparative analysis of alternatives.
  • Develop internal tools leveraging the latest technologies to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of solution development activities
  • Develop analysis documentation including system/model functional description, productivity details, rate details, constraints and limitations, material and information flowcharts and presentation materials.
  • Basic understanding of the unique operational and solution requirements of DMW&H’s market verticals.
  • Support sales presentations to communicate the analysis activities that drove the concepted solutions.
  • Represent DMW&H at Trade Shows.
  • Occasional overnight &/or travel required.
  • Responsible for protecting confidential information in accordance with company security policies. Duties include following secure data handling procedures, reporting potential security incidents, and completing mandatory security awareness training to ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
