Job description

The CAD Technician is part of a civil engineering design team involved in a variety public infrastructure and transportation improvement projects (i.e., streets, drainage, water, sanitary sewer, etc.). The position is a technical support role in our Fort Worth Headquarters.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Responsibilities require being actively engaged in plan production and design of projects. More specifically, responsibilities include:

Using established CAD standards to prepare electronic drawings from minimum marked-up plans and/or verbal instruction by engineers/designers

Oversight of CAD systems management, refinement and evolution of standards

Organizing and scheduling your own work, and at times, the work of other team members to accomplish project goals within established budgets and schedules

Coordination with engineers and other design team members

Plotting and assembling construction plans

Requirements

At a minimum, candidates must meet the following educational and professional requirements:

Education/Certification

High School graduate or GED required

Post-high school technical coursework, certification or degree in computer drafting/design or related field preferred

Professional

Responsive and results-oriented in service to clients

2-4 years of civil CAD experience and understanding of a variety of projects including residential subdivisions, public infrastructure improvements (i.e., streets, drainage, water, sanitary sewer, etc.), site development projects involving parks, schools, churches, hospitals, and retail/commercial centers

Proficient in the latest version of Bentley Microstation and OpenRoads Designer, 2D and 3D drafting, GEOPAK, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel

Demonstrated ability to develop solid working relationships with other team members

Ability to quickly adapt to and adopt new CAD standards and procedures

Commitment to quality in the design and presentation of drawings

Prior Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)/utility experience is preferred but not required
