The Senior CAD Designer I is a high-level technical CAD role, serving as an advanced subject matter expert and leader in CAD production, design coordination, and standards compliance. This position ensures technical excellence across projects while guiding team members and improving departmental processes.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation and drawing quality of Land Development Plans, Zoning Plans, Concept Plans, and Exhibitsย 
  • Ability to utilize multiple software applications in the preparation of Land Development Plansย 
  • Perform grading designs, surface modeling, and topographic analysisย 
  • Ability to apply municipal design standards for layout restrictions and guidelinesย 
  • Perform and review detailed earthwork analyses, identifying and resolving discrepancies with team to minimize project liabilityย 
  • Coordinate files and sharing with outside agenciesย 
  • Provide CAD coordination between Engineers, CAD Designers, and Project Managers on projectsย 
  • Ensure drawing deliverables meet scope, schedule, budget, regulatory requirements, and company standardsย 
  • Drive project workflow and provide project milestones and timelinesย 
  • Maintain drawing file organization per company standards and adhere to proper archiving processesย 
  • Perform progressive plan checks and final-level QA/QC reviews to guarantee drawing accuracy, constructability, and consistency prior to submissionย 
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce CAD standards, workflows, and best practices (Client templates, CAD exercise presentations, written and recorded guides)ย 
  • Mentor CAD users alongside CAD Management and act as a technical resourceย 
  • Encourage continuous improvement, automation, and innovation for all CAD usersย 
  • Embrace new technologies and software, spearheading innovationย 
  • Assist in cross-office work sharing while maintaining responsibility for the final productย 
  • Perform other duties as assignedย 
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, or related field preferred, or six (6) or more years of advanced CAD experience, including leadership or technical oversightย 
  • Land Development Design experience is requiredย 
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D is required
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3Dย 
  • Understanding of CAD workflows and timelinesย 
  • Understanding of land development design, grading, utilities and construction documentationย 
  • Ability to mentor and problem solveย 
  • Possess good working knowledge within CAD drawings as related to a variety of issuesย 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with respect to projects, CAD standards, etc. dailyย 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and resolve issues independently based on project/company standardsย 
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining consistent workflowย 
  • Willingness to assume increased responsibilitiesย 
  • Willingness and ability to expand knowledge of CAD abilities through trainingย 
  • Ability to work as a team player and interact well with othersย
