Impact Summary:

 The Senior Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading the design and development of complex aerospace systems, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory compliance. This position emphasizes leadership in managing project teams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation through advanced problem-solving and technical expertise. With a strong focus on collaboration and precision, the engineer utilizes advanced CAD tools and applies comprehensive aerospace engineering principles to deliver high-quality designs and documentation. The role requires a blend of technical acumen, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement, supported by extensive experience and the ability to maintain security clearance.


Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and integration of complex aerospace systems and components from concept through production.

Serve as the technical lead for small to mid-sized engineering projects, providing direction, prioritization, and oversight to project team members.

Perform complex engineering calculations and simulations.

Mentor and coach junior engineers by providing technical guidance, design reviews, and professional development support.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Participate in design reviews and provide critical feedback.

Lead the design and development of complex aerospace systems and components.

Conduct in-depth engineering analysis and optimization.

Prepare and develop 3-D models, 2-D drawings and other related technical documentation using SolidWorks.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure project alignment.

Support prototype builds, testing, validation, qualification, and certification activities, resolving technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering processes, design quality, productivity, and innovation.


Competencies:

Advanced knowledge of aerospace engineering principles.

Experience and proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (SolidWorks).

Excellent problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking.

High proficiency in technical writing and documentation.

Extensive knowledge of aerospace design and manufacturing processes.

Ability to produce 3-D model-based definition packages with Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T) notes and essential dimensions.

Strong leadership and project management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to innovate and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

 Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

5-9 years of progressive engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.

Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks and model-based design practices.

Experience in Aerospace design and manufacturing processes.

Experience interpreting and applying GD&T and aerospace engineering standards.

U.S. citizenship is required.

A current US Security Clearance to the level of SECRET.
