Job description

As a Mechanical Engineer Designer at Automated Cleaning Technologies, you will leverage your expertise in CAD modeling and machinery design to create detailed and precise components and systems for advanced machine solutions. Working primarily with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, you will ensure designs are manufacturable, compliant, and delivered on schedule. Collaborating closely with engineering, production, and electrical teams, you will contribute to innovative machinery used across aerospace, manufacturing, military, and energy sectors, all built in our San Antonio facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed CAD models and technical drawings for machinery designs using SolidWorks.
  • Attend Sales Order release meetings and manage assigned projects independently or collaboratively.
  • Submit detailed project timelines to meet schedule requirements and provide daily progress updates to management.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and document calculations and results.
  • Create accurate fabrication drawings for CNC laser cutting, press brake forming, and laser welding of various metals.
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, manufacturing feasibility, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments including UL-certified electrical team for integrated system designs and supports.
  • Create system documentation including P&ID drawings, sanitary tubing designs, and machine operation verbiage.
  • Participate in design reviews providing constructive feedback to improve design quality and efficiency.
  • Maximize use of CAD software capabilities to continually enhance design accuracy and workflow.
  • Work extended hours as needed, averaging 50-hour work weeks to meet project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of real-world mechanical engineering design experience, ideally in machinery applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM; passing a timed design test is required.
  • Strong knowledge of machinery design principles, fabrication processes, and manufacturing interactions.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication in English.
  • Self-motivated, serious, and able to work collaboratively without drama.
  • Must successfully complete two timed 20-minute Solidworks design tests on-site.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field is welcome but not mandatory.
  • Mid-level to senior-level mechanical engineering design experience encouraged to apply.
