Summary
Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking a CAD Detailer to join our team in Chattanooga, TN. As a Mechanical CAD Technician, you will play a key role in creating detailed 2D drawings and documentation for custom automation and tooling systems. You'll work closely with engineering and design teams to ensure our automated equipment meets the highest standards of precision, quality, and manufacturability.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong 2D CAD experience-primarily using SolidWorks and some Creo-who enjoys translating engineering concepts into production-ready drawings.

Position Responsibilities
Detailing & Documentation
  • Prepare and maintain accurate design drawings and specifications using CAD software.
  • Create, modify, and manage detailed 2D and (some) 3D parts and assembly drawings from engineering sketches, plans, and instructions.
  • Ensure all detailing work adheres to established drafting standards, procedures, and company documentation practices.
  • Ability to detail tooling, review and verify drawing accuracy, quantities, and completeness before release.

Collaboration & Support
  • Partner closely with engineers and designers to resolve design details or discrepancies.
  • Support the machine shop and assembly teams with clear drawings and assembly information as needed.
  • Apply company build standards and support compliance with the QA ISO 9001 program and internal procedures.

Technical Execution
  • Demonstrate proficiency in 2D detailing using SolidWorks, Creo, and/or AutoCAD.
  • Apply basic 3D parametric modeling techniques in Creo/SolidWorks.
  • Follow established workflows, guidelines, and quality processes while working under general supervision.
  • Utilize sound judgment and prior experience to accomplish project goals efficiently.
  • Verify quantities and accuracy of detailing prints released
  • Advanced ability to detail tooling and simple equipment and verify quantities and completeness of releases.
  • Basic ability to support machine shop as needed with drawings and assembly information.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Design/Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of mechanical detailing experience in an industrial or automation environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, and AutoCAD; experience with 3D modeling is a plus.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and ISO 14001 environmental standards preferred
