Job description

Airswift is looking for a CAD Designer/Drafter II to work for a major O&G company in Baytown, TX, for an initial 12-months assignment.
Position Overview
This opportunity is suited to an experienced CAD Designer/Drafter supporting engineering and process research activity within a technical site environment. The role will focus on producing and maintaining detailed 2D and 3D design documentation for equipment and experimental work ranging from benchtop to pilot-scale applications. This position offers the chance to contribute to a busy project pipeline with strong cross-functional collaboration across engineering disciplines. CAD Designer/Drafter professionals with a structured, detail-focused approach and strong technical communication skills will be well aligned to this opportunity.
Role Context
This role is based within a refinery and chemical complex and supports work at a technology and engineering site. The environment includes process research and application studies across global research locations. The CAD Designer/Drafter II role will contribute to engineering activity linked to major project demand extending through 2027.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, one-lines, general layouts, plans, sections, and detailed drawings.
  • Convert rough or complex design concepts into accurate working drawings and technical documentation.
  • Produce computer-based drawings, isometrics, detailed plans, and bills of materials to support engineering and research activities.
  • Revise drawing packages in line with engineering and operational instruction while maintaining accuracy and document integrity.
  • Coordinate effectively with multiple engineering disciplines and project teams to support delivery priorities and workload planning.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and activity updates clearly to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Estimate task workload and establish realistic completion dates for assigned drafting activities.
  • Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies and practices at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent relevant job experience.
  • Essential: Minimum 3-5 years of relevant CAD design experience.
  • Essential: Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, including Autodesk products.
  • Essential: Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Essential: Ability to manage tight deadlines, changing priorities, and a high-volume workload.
  • Essential: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Essential: Ability to work independently and as part of a team while prioritising tasks effectively.
