Job Description:

 

In a fast moving and increasingly complex world, L3Harris is anticipating and rapidly responding to challenges with agile technology - creating a safer and more secure future. L3Harris is seeking a dynamic Designer/Drafter who will design and manufacture electronic data acquisition systems for use in Anti-Submarine Warfare, ship self-defense, acoustic ranges and geophysical exploration products. They utilize CAD software to create blueprints, perform simulations to ensure safety and efficiency, and oversee production to meet project specifications.  

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Create and edit CAD models/files, engineering drawings and documents to ensure correct fit, interchangeability, application of geometric tolerances and conform to company and industry drawing standards.
  • Ensure that engineering drawings and documents are complete and are properly logged into the company's data repository.
  • Materials, finishes, and workmanship callouts in accordance with industry specifications.
  • Design of mechanical parts, components & assemblies, including electromechanical components.
  • Ensure that assigned project tasks meet technical and schedule requirements. Identify problems and recommend work around plans and alternatives.
  • Implement check and balance procedures to monitor, review and evaluate design activities performed to assure conformance with customer requirements, company standards and sound engineering practices.
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills and proficiency in using engineering CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred). 
  • Able to excel in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives.
  • Highly self-motivated, organized and detail oriented.
  • Promote cordial relationships and foster and maintain a favorable business profile with customers, suppliers, co-workers, industry and professional associations, government agencies and the local community
  • Ability to travel 5%-10%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years prior related experience, or master's degree and minimum 2 years prior related experience.  In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience.
  • At least 2 years of SolidWorks experience.
  • Experience with the application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Experience with engineering design and drafting per ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Undersea Systems experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic data acquisition, ship self-defense, and related systems.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
  • Detail-oriented and high level of organization skills.
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn and acquire new skills.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $79,000.00 - $147.000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
