Location: Broadview Heights, OH
Duration: 6 months
 
Seeking a Plastic Product Design Engineer with a strong focus on injection molded plastic part design, robust tolerance control, and end-to-end mechanical development execution
Technical/Functional Skills
• Experience in medical device new product development (NPI) including familiarity with design controls and regulated environments.
• Experience with assemblies involving plastics integrated with metals and other materials.
Experience Required
• Senior-level experience in mechanical design of injection molded plastic components.
• Strong proficiency in CAD systems; Creo strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience developing and analyzing tolerance stack-ups for complex assemblies.
• Proven capability in creating detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience leading small project scopes or subsystem development.
• Strong ability to communicate across teams and interface with vendors.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Mechanical Design & Development
o Lead design of injection molded plastic components as well as other types of mechanical parts from concept through design release, incorporating DFM principles and manufacturability constraints.
o Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings aligned with project and documentation requirements.
• Tolerance & Drawing Ownership
o Develop and validate tolerance stack-ups to ensure fit, function, and performance across assemblies.
o Own engineering drawings, dimensioning strategy, and release-ready documentation.
o Drive design decisions using tolerance analysis to mitigate risk and ensure manufacturability and reliability.
• Technical Leadership
o Lead defined sub-portions of the project, managing design execution, risks, and deliverables.
o Provide clear status updates and proactively escalate issues impacting scope, schedule, or performance.
• Vendor Interface
o Interface with vendors on DFM reviews, tooling strategies, and part optimization.
o Incorporate vendor feedback into design iterations while maintaining performance and timeline targets
