Job description

Van Cleef Engineering Associates, LLC (Van Cleef) is a dynamic, multi‐disciplined consulting civil engineering firm of Engineers, Certified Inspectors, Landscape Architects, Planners and Land Surveyors. With offices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we provide expertise in all of the major areas of civil engineering, municipal engineering, municipal planning, and land surveying.

Our Phillipsburg, NJ office has an opening for a skilled Survey CAD Technician with a solid understanding of civil engineering and land surveying principles and expertise in creating precise 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software.

As a Survey CAD Technician, you will be responsible for deed plots, importing survey points, preparing Boundary Survey Plans, Existing Conditions Plans and Route Surveys.  Tax map preparation and revisions to Tax Maps are also required. Must follow company CAD standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create accurate Basemaps and Existing Conditions plans utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Working knowledge of points and point groups.
  • Create surfaces from points utilizing Feature Lines.
  • Create profiles and cross sections from surfaces.
  • Ensure plans comply with company CAD standards. 
  • Prepare new Tax Maps for municipal clients.  Revise existing tax maps.  
  • Maintain organized project records and documentation for future reference.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Survey CAD Technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D AutoCad Civil 3D software. Knowledge of MicroStation is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and land surveying principles, terminology, and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly attentive to detail, ensuring the accuracy plans.
  • Certificate of completion from a Technical School preferred.

Compensation:

Van Cleef Engineering Associates is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices in compliance with applicable laws, including the New Jersey Equal Pay Act. The estimated salary range for this position will fall between $25 - $35 per hour. The starting salary offered is contingent upon a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience/skillset, educational qualifications, and professional certifications, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
