Job Description

KPFF Seattle's Civil Team designs sites that enable land to be developed for commercial, residential, institutional, and recreational purposes. We also design critical public and private infrastructure systems that support the built and natural environments, including district energy, regional storm drainage facilities, utility grids, and trails. We support projects ranging from feasibility evaluations and master planning to design, permitting, and construction. Our group works in close collaboration with owners, architects, landscape architects, and other engineering disciplines to build a more sustainable, resilient, and thriving community.ย 

Located in downtown Seattle, ourย Civil Engineeringย team is seeking aย Civil CAD Drafter/Technician.ย This position willย provide the opportunity for youย to dive headfirst into real-world projects from day one.ย You'llย collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the design and development of civil infrastructure across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. You will support projects by creating, managing, updating, andย maintainingย a variety of drawings with a strong eye for presentation and attention to detail.ย We'reย looking for team members who are excited to make a difference in the world and the communities we live and work in, are effective communicators, and thrive in collaborative environments.ย 

Responsibilities and Duties:ย 

With the supervision of a CAD technician, project engineer, and/or project manager, you will:ย 

  • Research jurisdictional codes and manuals toย determineย drafting and CAD requirementsย 
  • Create project drawings andย exhibitย deliverablesย 
  • Apply established company,ย jurisdiction, and/or project cad standardsย ย 
  • Maintain organization of project filesย ย 
  • Prepare and edit plans, profiles, sections, and details from rough sketches, redline mark-ups, and verbal instruction from team membersย ย 
  • Perform vehicular turning studies using software such asย AutoTurnย 
  • Be responsible forย presentation and overall drawing appearance and clarityย 
  • Coordinate with engineers and team membersย ย 
  • Plot and scan drawingsย ย 
  • Complete drawings and project responsibilities within acceptable timelineย ย 
  • For CAD Technicians, understand, model, and use Civil 3D design elementsย ย 
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:ย 

  • Minimum 1 yearย experienceย or completion of a CAD Technical education programย 
  • Proficiencyย in AutoCADย 
  • The ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a teamย 
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, dependable employeeย 
  • Be detail oriented, organized, and have good follow-through skillsย 
  • Clear and collaborative communication skillsย 
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with team membersย

Additional Information

This position will require full in-office attendance during a training period; upon successful completion, the role will transition to a hybrid schedule.ย 

Physical Demands:

  • Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • Occasionally visiting project and construction sites may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $30.00 - $50.00/hourย
