We are currently searching for an experienced Survey CAD Technician to support our Gulf Region located in Mississippi.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist with field surveying activities, including operating and maintaining conventional and electronic survey equipment
  • Conduct land surveys by measuring locations, boundaries, dimensions, points, lines, grades, angles, and distances for mapping, construction staking, and control establishment
  • Coordinate with survey field crews and prepare field packets and work orders for project execution
  • Process and quality-check field data, importing results into CAD environments
  • Prepare survey deliverables using MicroStation and Autodesk Civil 3D, including topographic surveys, ROW mapping, digital terrain models, boundary surveys, parcel plats, and control surveys
  • Perform records and title research, including abstracting and deed sketches
  • Assist in preparing metes and bounds descriptions under the supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS)

What you need to have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of surveying and/or CADD experience
  • Familiarity with DOT survey standards
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroStation
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy loads
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)


Bonus points if you have:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Geography, Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field
  • Experience with GIS
  • Experience with aerial mapping and/or LiDAR
  • Experience with terrestrial scanning
  • Ability to obtain Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification and pursue professional licensure
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
