Job description

Land Surveying Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing survey drawings, plats, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary surveys, and construction staking exhibits using AutoCAD and related software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare survey plats, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, condominium surveys, and construction staking exhibits.
  • Draft survey data collected from field crews using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
  • Process field data and coordinate information from GPS and robotic total station equipment.
  • Create legal descriptions, easement exhibits, and survey maps as needed.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Coordinate with survey crews, project managers, engineers, architects, and clients.
  • Maintain project files and electronic records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of CAD drafting experience, preferably in land surveying.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction layout.
  • Ability to read legal descriptions, plats, and engineering plans.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Carlson Survey software.
  • Knowledge of Illinois surveying standards and practices.
  • Understanding of coordinate geometry and survey calculations.
