Job description

The Design Technician prepares layouts, generates manufacturing files, updates documentation, and assists internal testing activities. This role ensures engineering intent is accurately translated into manufacturable designs while contributing to continuous improvement and business initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Apply redlines and updates from customers, Design Engineers, or Quality teams in EPLAN, AutoCAD, or other design software.
  • Design and produce terminal block labels, phenolic tags, and other panel identification markers.
  • Generate and manage manufacturing files for production use.
  • Assist with internal testing activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, revision histories, and drawing packages.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Bills of Material (BOM) under engineer direction.
  • Assist Sales, Engineering, and Quality teams by reviewing engineering documentation.

Requirements
Required
  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in CAD, panel layout, or industrial documentation.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical components and basic control panel architecture.
  • Working knowledge of EPLAN, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured design workflows.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, production teams, and quality personnel.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation and file management habits.
  • Comfortable working in an office environment with extended computer-based work.

Preferred
  • Knowledgeable of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A standards.
  • "Hands on" electrical/mechanical experience or hobbies.
