Job Overview

We are seeking a Civil / Geotechnical CAD Drafter to support our growing civil and geotechnical engineering team. This position will focus on preparing construction drawings, design exhibits, details, figures, and plan sets for a variety of civil infrastructure, geotechnical, foundation, earth retention, and construction support projects.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working closely with engineers and project managers to convert design concepts, field information, sketches, and markups into clear, accurate, and professional drawings.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare civil and geotechnical drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.

· Ability to prepare civil and geotechnical drawings using Microstation OpenRoads, or willingness to learn.

· Develop plan views, profiles, sections, details, notes, schedules, and construction drawings from engineer sketches, calculations, redlines, survey information, and field data.

· Support preparation of drawings for site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, erosion control, foundations, retaining walls, earth retention systems, underpinning, micropiles, helical piles, soil nails, and other specialty geotechnical systems.

· Prepare figures and exhibits for proposals, design memoranda, geotechnical reports, construction submittals, and permit applications.

· Assist with quantity take-offs and drawing-based measurements.

· Revise drawings based on engineer comments, client comments, agency comments, and field changes.

· Maintain drawing files, references, templates, blocks, layers, and project documentation in accordance with company standards.

· Review drawings for consistency, accuracy, completeness, spelling, dimensions, scales, references, and general constructability.

· Assist with organizing plan sets and preparing drawings for internal review, client submittal, permitting, and construction use.

· Communicate questions or conflicts in project information to the appropriate engineer or project manager.

Required Qualifications

· Associate’s degree, technical diploma, or certificate in Drafting & Design, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.

· 2+ years of drafting or civil design experience.

· Proficiency with AutoCAD.

· Basic understanding of civil construction drawings, plan preparation, dimensions, scales, and drafting standards.

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, sketches, redlines, survey information, and technical documents.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Civil 3D.

· Experience preparing civil, structural, geotechnical, transportation, site development, or utility drawings.

· Familiarity with grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, retaining walls, foundations, earth retention, or specialty geotechnical construction.

· Experience with MicroStation, GIS, Revit, Bluebeam, or other design/documentation software.

· Familiarity with DOT, municipal, or agency drafting standards.

· Experience preparing construction details, cross sections, profiles, and plan sheets.
