We are focused on the health and safety of our employees, partnering with our customers, giving back to the communities we live in and protecting our natural environment.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the NPI Leader, the Estimator–Designer is a hybrid role that owns the full lifecycle from initial customer intake and rapid quote development through detailed CAD design and manufacturing release. This person will translate high‑level customer needs into accurate cost estimates and clear proposals within fast turnaround windows, then evolve those opportunities into manufacturable designs—updating estimates as the design matures—until the final, confirmed design (e.g., GT Silex silencers and accessories) is released to production. The role works cross‑functionally with Engineering, Account Management, Plant Operations, and suppliers to ensure technical accuracy, manufacturability, schedule feasibility, and commercial clarity.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Triage and manage incoming RFQs; clarify high‑level requirements (duty, performance, environment, space constraints, packaging/shipping needs, delivery expectations).
  • Engage customers to validate scope, assumptions, risks, and success criteria; document notes for internal alignment.
  • Assist with drawings to provide estimates for materials, labor, processes, and overhead based on specifications and known configurations, incorporate packaging and delivery requirements.
  • Work closely with Account Management, corporate Engineering, and Production to meet customer needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of timely quotes
  • Translate accepted quotes into preliminary design concepts and layouts aligned to customer requirements and performance targets.
  • Recommend design approaches that balance cost, manufacturability, and performance.
  • Utilize 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) to create and revise models and drawings for silencers, catalytic mufflers, tubing, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Perform DFM for large silencers and accessories to reduce cost and simplify fabrication/assembly.
  • Generate detailed component/assembly drawings, BOMs, and release documentation.
  • Check models/prints for standards compliance, clarity, and manufacturability.
  • Travel Required: 0-10%

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience as related to product design/development preferred.
  • Experience with 2-D and 3-D CAD required (Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor)

  • Working knowledge of industrial exhaust systems preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
