At ANS, we’re not just a consulting engineering firm—we’re a team of trailblazers shaping the future of multi-disciplinary engineering. Recognized as one of the Best Places to Work and Top 10 Hottest Engineering Firms in the US by Zweig Reports, and featured in Inc. 5000’s Top 250 for our staggering 1,748% growth, we’re proud of what we’ve built and where we're headed.

We’re allergic to bureaucracy, thrive on innovation, and embrace data-driven decisions. If you love collaboration, creativity, and a fast-paced environment, we might just be your perfect match!

Our team includes professionals licensed in over 20 states, with more than 70 years of collective experience. We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages growth and professional development.

At ANS, you’ll enjoy paid vacation, sick, and personal time off; support for continuing education and community involvement; and comprehensive healthcare, vision, and dental benefits for eligible employees.

We are transitioning our HV engineering group to SBS Substation Design Suite (SDS) as our primary production platform, and we are looking for the person who will own that transition end-to-end. This is not a drafting role and it is not a pure IT role, it sits at the intersection of substation engineering, design standards, and production automation. The right candidate will be a substation designer or engineer with deep AutoCAD and SDS experience who can work alongside our discipline leads, delivery team, and technology group to build a scalable and high-quality design production system.
Key Responsibilities:
  • SDS Program Ownership: Own the SDS/SBS AutoCAD rollout roadmap, content backlog, and release cadence. Manage the transition from standard AutoCAD to SDS as the default workflow for standard substation projects.

  • Content Governance: Coordinate with Engineering Leads to maintain block libraries, naming conventions, attribute rules, sheet setup standards, and template release controls. Ensure every block, symbol, and template has an owner, revision date, approval status, and intended project type.

  • Training and Adoption: Develop and manage a role-based training program covering new users, checkers, project engineers, content owners, and production contributors. Track adoption metrics and report on progress against rollout milestones.

  • Technology and AI Integration: Coordinate with the ANS technology team on AutoCAD LISPs, automation scripts, and AI integrations. Ensure SDS outputs are structured to support automated checking workflows.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering Leads, and the technology and automation team to ensure SDS is integrated properly into design workflow.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with SBS Substation Design Suite (SDS) or SBS AutoCAD in a substation engineering production environment. Candidates with deep AutoCAD substation experience and demonstrated ability to learn SDS will be considered.

  • Strong understanding of substation design P&C, Physical, or both. Ability to communicate credibly with engineers and reviewers on content standards and design intent.

  • Experience managing or contributing to AutoCAD block libraries, template standards, naming conventions, or similar design content governance programs.

  • Ability to develop and deliver training content to engineers, designers, and checkers with varying levels of SDS experience, including remote teams.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD LISP, scripting, or automation tooling is a strong plus. Experience working alongside a technology or software development team is valued.

  • Strong organizational and program management skills. Comfortable managing a backlog, setting release cadence, and communicating progress against milestones to multiple stakeholders.
