Job description

The CAD Drafter works under the direction of multiple engineers to complete construction drawings and various other tasks such as permitting and field data collection for utility construction projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Uses computer-aided design/drafting equipment and software to develop construction drawings.
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, related data and drawings to determine final design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of components.
  • Reviews drawings for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client requirements, and relation specifications.
  • Complete permitting applications and cover letters
  • Work cross-functionally with construction teams to provide support and meet deadlines.
  • Track and manage priorities by effectively communicating.
  • Collect data through completing pre-made forms or drawing accurate hand sketches.
  • Retrieves information from customer databases to be incorporated into drawings.
  • Travel to sites to collection information through hand sketches, pictures, or surveying (under direction of a design engineer). Travel is expected 25% of the time.
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner to represent InterCon Construction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Associates Degree in Drafting and minimum of two years of experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D, equivalent work experience considered.
  • Ability to interpret schematics or engineering sketches to create a final product.
  • Ability to read and understand DOT road plans, profiles, and cross-section prints.
  • Familiarity with aerial imagery and creating base mapping
  • Detail-oriented to work in an organized manner to create consistent drawings.
  • Ability to work as a team member on multiple projects
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and prioritize daily work.
  • Experience/exposure to Utility Industry is preferred (electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer)
  • Ability to collect data utilizing measuring devices (tape measure, measuring wheel, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • This position will travel approx. 25% of the time, primarily throughout Wisconsin.
