Position Description:

Prepare detailed working CAD models and drawings of assemblies, components, parts, fixturing, tooling and gaging. Create detailed models and drawings which include accurate depictions, dimensions, attributes and other engineering information. Work under the direction of manufacturing and process engineers. 

Required:

  • U.S. Person status required for work in an ITAR controlled facility 
  • U.S. Person Definition (22 CFR 120.62): To work with ITAR-controlled data, you must be a U.S. Person, which includes U.S. citizens (naturalized or born), permanent residents (green card holders), or protected individuals (e.g., refugees).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for Manufacturing Processes, Parts, Assemblies, Mechanical equipment, Fixtures, Dies, Tools, Cutting Tools and Gages, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Documenting step by step manufacturing processes under the direction of manufacturing engineers. 
  • Lay out, print, reproduce illustrations, and maintain manufacturing process manuals to describe operation sequences and materials.
  • Produce three-dimensional models, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
  • Use of 3D printing technology for components and assemblies.
  • Use of mathematics, knowledge and logic to scrutinize own work for effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate records (both digital and paper) regarding completed process and component documents. 

Other Duties:

  • Conversations and collaboration with customer representatives to review models and/or drawings and answer questions pertaining to designs of processes, components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate with and consult with Engineers, Toolmakers, Quality technicians, & Manufacturing leadership to facilitate effective design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve problems.
  • Trustworthy and competent in the viewing, use, printing, sharing, and storage of controlled unclassified information.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2 year technical degree (Associates or equivalent) in design or technical related field or equivalent skill and experience.  
  • Demonstrable evidence of at least 2 years experience in a design or drafting environment using CAD software is required.
  • Computer aided design CAD software - Dassault Systems SolidWorks 
  • Office suite software - Microsoft Office software including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook etc.
  • 3D printer software - Ideamaker
  • Occasional use of Enterprise resource planning ERP software - Vantage by Epicor
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to make decisions and be creative within the confines of company & customer requirements.
  • Ability to self-manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to maintain attendance for a 40 hour work week.
