Job description

Position Summary
The CAD Designer will support Sy-Klone's application engineering and implementation activities by developing technical drawings, 2D/3D models, installation schematics, and customer-specific designs that facilitate the successful integration of Sy-Klone products into a wide range of equipment and applications utilizing special design software. This role works closely with customers, sales, engineering, and operations teams to translate application requirements into accurate, manufacturable, and installable designs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and capable of balancing multiple projects while delivering high-quality drawings and documentation that support customer success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed CAD drawings, installation schematics, layouts, and technical documentation to support customer applications and product implementation.
  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar)
  • Create customer-specific designs and mounting solutions that integrate Sy-Klone products with a variety of equipment and operating environments.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineers, Sales, and customers to gather requirements and develop tailored implementation solutions.
  • Review customer equipment drawings, specifications, and technical information to determine installation requirements and design constraints.
  • Prepare fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and installation instructions as needed.
  • Support new product introductions and engineering change activities by updating drawings, documentation, and design records.
  • Ensure designs comply with company standards, engineering requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate drawing files, revisions, and documentation within applicable systems and processes.
  • Assist with troubleshooting installation challenges and provide technical drawing support during implementation activities.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Operations teams to resolve design-related issues and improve manufacturability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes, documentation quality, and implementation efficiency.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Requirements
Qualifications
The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job well:
  • Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3+ years of CAD design or drafting experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or technical environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar design platforms.
  • Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Design and Tolerancing)
  • Proficiency in electrical schematics
  • Experience creating technical drawings, installation layouts, assembly drawings, and fabrication documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting customer-specific design modifications and implementation projects preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy and documentation quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in heavy equipment, industrial equipment, OEM, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, product documentation systems, and revision control processes preferred.
  • Experience in high-growth or small-company environments strongly preferred.
