Role Summary
Sherwood is currently seeking a Senior CAD Technician/Drafter to support our growing, progressive and multidisciplinary engineering firm. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of Sherwood's global team, collaborating with engineering and operations disciplines to cocreate solutions to a variety of organizational challenges. This candidate will understand how to create base files, 3D models, sections, profiles, grading, utility designs and plotting layouts. They will read and interpret technical architectural and civil design drawings, and utilize computer software to complete assignments. They will also be asked to mentor junior staff in supporting our CAD capabilities as a firm.
This position is hybrid, and requires a minimum of 3 days in office. Travel to and from other offices may be required and is compensable time. This position is exempt from overtime.
Minimum Skills
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Expert knowledge of Windows, MS Office, and Google Workspace
  • Demonstrated ability identifying, diagnosing and solving complex problems
  • Strong ability to accurately estimate task durations and manage multiple assignments
  • Extensive knowledge of industry information and current with industry standards
  • Growth-mindset and human-centered leadership skills
  • Advanced customer service skills and the ability to influence others
  • Ability to travel occasionally to various office locations within the U.S.

Preferred Skills
  • 15+ years of experience in Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Experience with Autodesk InfraWorks, BIM 360 Collaborate Pro, Docs, Map 3D, Raster Design, Civil Design, Survey, etc.

Expected Outcomes
  • Work directly with various project teams focused on infrastructure and site improvements
  • Create/revise existing drawings in accordance with company established procedures, practices, and standards
  • Interpret architectural and engineering notes, written instructions, and detailed sketches, to prepare clear and detailed drawings
  • Help enforce AutoCAD and Civil 3D standards in the CAD Manual, including occasional user support and process development
  • Participate in evaluating CAD software with IT for adoption of new features or extensions
  • Assist in production CAD support and troubleshooting

Compensation:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Sherwood Design Engineers, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $105,000 to $118,000. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
